Where do we start ? I guess the first port of call is to find out if you are doing NTSC/ PAL conversions ? If NTSC, have you got the correct framerate ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. Sorry didnt give you enough info.

I downloaded the AVi of a DVD rip and its NTSC 23.976kbps. Its the usual jerkiness that seems to be common, as in it plays smooth for a few seconds then jerky then back to smooth.

I want to convert it to SVCD (not bothered if its NTSC or PAL, my player can play either), and obviously want rid of the jerkiness.

It's encodedwith XviD MPEG-4 Codec deompression?

Sorry to sound dumb, am new to all this

Also be prepared for it to be a crappy file.

If you start with a bad file then chances are you wont get it any better.

The old garbage in- garbage out thing.

  7. Thanks for the help guys.

My brother is in a band (unsigned unfortunately) and they managed to scrape some cash together to make a video which they burnt as a DVD, as he lives 3000 miles away it was easier for him to set up some internet thing for me to download the file but he re-encoded it in the wrong format.

I've spoke to him and he's gonna pop one up in a better format for me - Family, heh!

As you can tell from my terminology I'm not too hot on web/net terminology, but he recommended this forum as a good place for help.

Cheers anyway for all your help, much appreciated!
