For making SVCDs,
Is beta 12 still the best for 2 pass VBR encoding and small file size?
Or is 2.01 worth it due to the speed increase? Is there a quality increase with 2.01 (over beta 12) at the best motion search setting?

I realize that if it ain't broke ...
But, no one's been talking about beta 12 so I'm assuming that means either people don't know about it or it has been surpassed it quality or usability.
Anyone, tested beta 12 vs 2.01? -
2.01 has better quality.
The bugs from version 0.12a to 0.12j are already solved.
So you can switch to 2.01 if you know how to solve 30day limitation
In older versions you achieved best quality with "high quality" in actual version best quality comes with "highest quality".

I am not sure 100% for this...
I tried 12, 12H and 2.1 (we waiting this days for 2.2...)
12 creates smaller files
12H is good for CQ_VBR
2.1 is good for 2 Pass VBR. I am not impressed by the quality of CQ_VBR I use most of the times... I still believe that for CQ VBR, 12H is better than 2.1
Old good 12, creates less detail, smaller file and true VBR fuction. 12a to 12g was buggy. 12i and 12j, well... No comment.
Maybe some true experts has to say their opinion for the new versions....
