Convert 'em to DVD compliant mpeg and make sure you size them so you can fit more than one per disk. Author together as many as can fit on a disk, burn away.

  3. what do you mean to size them? And what's the Author program do before I burn it?

  4. You could also convert your avi into mpeg1 (or vcd format), then use Tmpgenc DVD Author to author your disc. That way you will be able to squeeze more episodes on one disc. For max amount of episodes, go with the standard birate 1150. But if you need better quality, up your birate to 1500 to 1800.

  5. My AVI has a Birate of 9685. Which made the episode have 1.37 GB, but I need to fit 24 episodes into max of 3 DVD-R disks of 4.7GB, how can I do that with still good quality. Plus how would I use Author to make more then one episode onto the DVD-R?

  6. Convert with tmpgenc so the bitrate is low enough for you to get 8 files on each disc.

Then use tmpgenc dvd author to create the volume

    Burn with something like nero.

Read the guides on the side and do a forum search, your question has been asked many times before.

  7. For 8 episodes per disc, TMPGenc makes it fairly easy. When you go to pick your bitrate, just go to the section that asks how much % of space you want it to take. Put 12.45% which will allow you to get all 8 on disc with a bitrate of around 3000 for each one and still have some room left over for menus and whatever else authoring programs put on there.

That's just for a standard 22 minute show, if you have a 45 minute (1 hour) show your bitrate will be halved obviously.

if he has to encode the avi anyway for the purpose of creating a DVD, there is no point to convert to mpg1/vcd.

    He should simply encode to dvd-compliant MPEG2, 1150Kbs, 352 X 240.
That way the audio would already be correct for dvd and some people.....such as myself....arbitrarily believe mpg2 looks better on dvd then mpg1.

wow...that is a high bitrate, what is the time duration of the AVI?

At that high a bitrate, the quality is most likely very good so you may be disappointed in the quality of your final product if you cram 8 episodes on a dvd.

As to how to use TMPGEnc DVDAuthor....there are several guides here explaining the process....look in column on the left side of this page.

  10. My episodes are 23 minutes and 39 seconds... But I would sacrafice alot of quality if I put 12 episodes on each disk?

He's right! My bad. Per episode is 23 min 39 sec. Therefore 12 episodes would be 4 hrs 43mins 48sec. Using the birate calculator on this site yields a birate of 1919 with 224 audio. With that kind of birate, you should achieve pretty decent quality. Please note that you might have to compensate for menus space.
