  1. Does anyone have this trouble? I burn a DVD with DVD Clone, the burn is 100%, but when I play it back in a DVD player, it freezes up or has blocks in the pic. Any one out there can help please do. Does this with a couple of dvd brands of playback players.

Check that your standalone is compatible with the media you are using. You can do this by looking at the DVD Players section on the left of this page. I have backedup over 50 dvds using cheap dvdrs (bulkpaq orange) and all have played flawlessly on my pioneer standalone.

Also, you should try using a dvd-rw (so that you don't waste disks) and make copies using different software (esp for the burn), and see if one gives you better results than another. I'm not familiar with DVD Clone but Shrink and Nero haven't failed me yet.

  3. Vary your media, burning speed.

Where is the source of your file ?, did you check for bad frames ?, does it play before you burn it ?
    If it's wet, drink it

I agree with what Hardcoreruss and Mattsensei said. Try lowering the speed you burn at. I have some Riteks that I will stutter in my player if I burn with Nero at 4x. Even gives very slight skips or freezes when burned at 2X (But still much better then after a 4X burn). But if I convert to ISO image and burn with DVDDecrypter it plays perfect no matter what speed I burn at.

So it could be anything. But I would try lowering the burn speed a notch or two first to see if it helps. Then experiment with different software as well.
Thats why I just picked up a spindle of DVD+RW's to play around with for backups.
