  1. There is a 2 for 1 special on the front page of tomorrow's Office Depot ad for Maxell media. Buy a 15 cake for $26.97 and get a second cake free. It appears to be an instant offer, so no rebates to mail in. I have not used it, but I know FulciLives and others are fans of this media. Happy hunting.

Very cool! I stocked up pretty nicely the last time this was offered, but it seems to be a good time to maybe grab a few more. Be sure to look for the yellow DVD-R's in blue shrinkwrap (Made in Japan), they're genuine Maxell 4X discs. Apparently the green top DVD-Rs are Ritek G03's, good but not AS good.

Not sure about the +R discs although I think they're supposed to be high quality discs too (RICOHJPRN?)

Just the sale I've been waiting for. I got them the last time Office Depot had them on sale. Yesterday I bought a 15 pack Maxell DVD-R spindle from Tower Video since I had a gift card to use. I don't buy music cds or dvds from there so I got the Maxell DVD-R.

How do you order these on-line at that price? I put 2 of them in my cart and they show full price. I don't have an Office Depot store near me, that's why I ask.

The coupon code in the ad is 51101750.

    Give that a shot.

  7. The coupon code works online. Just use it at checkout on the bottom of the screen.

Thanks for that online coupon information! My local office depot doesn't have the maxell's in their sunday ad. They have philips media on sale. I was able to make a phone order for the maxell's using that coupon number. Thanks!

Thanks for the coupon code, LRD. Didn't know you needed one, but it worked. They have free shipping too!

Keep an eye on Staples now. They just started carrying 4x Maxell discs. Maybe they will have a good sale on them soon.

  12. A report from the field. In my Northern California store, at least, it has "real" Maxell DVD-Rs (MXLRG02), Yellow top discs, blue wrapper, made in Japan.

Went out to my Local Office depot and checked this out... Bought two packs (I'm cheap). Anyways, I took them back after I found that officemax was selling 100 pack of ritek (ridata) dvd+rs for 79.99 - 10.00 mail in rebate. 100 riteks for 69.00!!! I didn't think was such a bad deal, so I returned the maxells. While at office max I picked up the 100 cd-r spindle that was on sale (29.99 - 10.00 instant rebate - 20.00 mail in rebate = free) they were also ritek.

Yeah, but RITEK and MXL are not in the same league. The MXL is best price I've ever seen. The RITEK you can buy for that price online. ($80)

Walmart and Future shop have been having deals on these so I think this a N.A phenomenem,so I'm sure it will come to Canada.
The fifteen pack is available for $24 cdn at Walmart.

I like the +R's(Made In Taiwan)nice blue color, never had a coaster,as oppossed to the -R's(Made In Japan) a really sick color yellow and one coaster

  19. I went yesterday but it looked like they never stocked them in the first place at my local store. Anyone else run into this? Is it likely they have some 'in the back' or that they'll issue rainchecks/substitutions? I would've asked but I was in a hurry.

  20. In my experience persistence pays off. Take the ad and ask one of the salespersons. Often they will check in the back and find something. If not, then ask about rainchecks and substitutions. The smarter managers realize that a happy customer is a potential repeat customer.

My local office depot didn't have it listed in their ad. I got mine by ordeing from the office depot 1-800-463-3768 number, then went to my local office depot and picked up my order from there. I was told I could order it on the condition that it was in stock. But I knew the store location I chose had them because I saw it there the day before. When ordering it mention the coupon code so you can get the buy 1 get 1 free.

You can always get them at officedepot.com with free shipping, but you have to place seperate orders if you want to buy more than 2 with buy-one-get -one-free. I've placed a couple orders already with no issues.

  23. I bought 2 packs and they are RicohJPN. They are working fine so far. Better than the CMC Memorex I purchased 2 weeks ago.

Re availability, with all the price matching out there, it might pay to take the ad to a competitor. I know they don't match mail in rebates, but instant rebates and 2 for 1's are merely price reductions.

Did you buy the "+" or the "-" ?
I picked up 6 spindles of the "-" all with Made in Japan on the label. I opened 2 packs and checked and the ones I got were MXL. I sure hope that the rest are MXL as well.

  25. If you order online, you can't do multiple orders if using your office depot logon account. It doesn't let you use the same coupon code. But its easy enough to order without loggin on. you just have to re-enter your shipping and payment info.

  26. My local office depot (West LA) was out yesterday, guy said to check back on Weds.

If they don't have them weds, I'll ask for a rain check, and see if they will give me one.

I was worried about ordering on line, because I was not sure if I would get made in Japan maxells, where I can check if I buy from a store.

  28. I'm with the other guy who said something about Canada.

I have seen some sales here in Ottawa, but nothing earth shattering. The common sales are a 5 pack of Memorex + or - for $7.49 at Best Buy. Thats not bad but not as good as some of the sales I have seen people mention on here. I hope we get some better sales up here soon ... :P

So that looks like they're genuine Maxell's. Nero indicates I can burn at 8x with a hacked Pioneer 107D. I'll let youse know what results I get...
