  1. had to install a ne hdd as my old died.re-installed dvd and power dvd and it says i need to update my ide drivers as i may encounter faults.at the mo it plays really jerky in full screen.how do i find these drivers i know my pc is a compaq but can not find the motherboard make or name so i am stuck.please help.

    I would go to Compaq's site first and see what you can find. Should be model, serial number on the back of the PC case. If that doesn't work, open the case and look around on the motherboard. Sometimes the MB model is at the bottom of the board under the lowest card slot. May be other places on the board. Usually you can do a Google search for what you find a get a few hits. Also do a search for 'ide drivers' and that may give you a few places to look.

    You have an Intel chipset board I believe (you are running a Celeron, right). If that's true (the free program AIDA32 can tell you that) then you're probably all set in getting drivers. Intel has basically replaced individual IDE drivers with the Intel Application Accelerator. Here's a link where you can read about it (and download it). I believe you need chipset information which you can get with AIDA32.
