I convert a DVD to MPG file using DVDx. Then I burn it to VCD using Nero. It appears that the audio and video is off phase with each other. Specifically the audio is about half a second or more late compare with the video. Anyway we can solve this problem. I'm not sure where is the problem.

Wow, your post has made it all the way to the bottom and no one has replied to it yet. There are many ways to go about doing this, and it's fairly simple. I wonder why no one has replied to it. Heh.
Anyway, open up the MPG in VirtualDub, and click on:
AUDIO >> INTERLEAVING >> AUDIO SKEW CORRECTION (bottom half)
With that, you can re-sync the audio with the video again.
Then frame serve into TMPGenc and load up the VCD Template and Encode. You may then burn the finished product via nero.
Hope this helps.

i have this same problem. i have looked thru the forums and cannot find an answer. i tried the virtual dub, great tool, but it seems that the audio is out of sync at different places thru the movie. ie 5 sec at start 15 at end.
i am using dvdx with mpeg layer 3 for audio. i have no problems with say pcm, but its so big. so does anyone know how i can fix this problem woth mpeg 3 or is there something better?
thanks

why would you want to re encode an mpg? wouldn't that cause the file to lose some additional quality? wouldn't you use the avi file in vdub instead?
