Hi I have been able to burn a dvd-r to a dvd-r but the problem is it has a menu to use for the pc but when I use it on the stand alone dvd player it won't play unless I choose program number and or find it through search. Is there any way of making it play instantly instead of having to go and enter program number on the player?
Many thanks in advance

Might be an authoring question.
Can you tell us what / how your doing the backup / copying process. Specifically what progams you are using, is the disc a movie or did you author it from home videos etc. -
It is a dvd-r copy from america.
I am using dvdshrink and nero6. I tried dvdencryptor and all the others, smartripper. When I play it on the PC I have to double click the play button but as said earlier when I put it into the stand alone I have to do a search for the chapter to start it.
I have read and read all the different ways for doing this and all the different software to use. -
Almost sounds like they went into reauthor mode and threw the menu in it, despite the fact it won't work.
-
So is there any way of removing it so it will play automatically on the stand alone?
-
If you open the disc with shrink and click back up disc instead of reauthor the movie should play fine in a stand alone player. Is this what you are doing?
-
I have done it that way, and it plays in the stand alone player but not automatically, I have to do a seach or open chapter to get to play.

Hi all.
Jen_UK, have you tried using DVD Shrink Re-author mode?
If not, simply use it to select the title(s) you wish to backup, omitting the menu. -
Normally menus that are provided on the original copies will not play automatically rather you have to select play in order to get them to start. Its strange that you would have to select a chapter in order to start the movie. Are you backing this up off an original copy? If you are backing up a movie who's menu has already been edited that could explain the problem otherwise I think I'm out of answers

Glad to hear you got it working.
