    I am waiting for a Plextor PX-708A Dvd writer to arrive. I have an Aopen 1648 /AAP dvd drive and I notice I can only change my region 5 times and then I understand it will lock. I have written to Aopen two days ago with no response. My dvd drive has firmware 1.04 region control RPC -2. Is there any way to make this dvd drive region free please? I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

    This actually has nothing to do with the model drive you have (though the reason I saw this thread is because I have one of those as well). Changing the Region Code 5 times is a limitation enforced by Windows. See the sticky in this thread for a link to "DVD Region Free" that will help you out.
