  1. Hi,I just got my new Burner( Yamaha CRW2100E 16X10X40 Internal IDE CD-RW Drive w/8MB Buffer) a month ago and I can't get it to burn above 8x! I have a Brand new PC (1400 with 256Meg of DDR Ram, and a new 60 gig hard drive) When I try to burn above 8x it starts to burn the CD and gets about 50% done then the Used read buffer starts to drop and when it gose to nothing the CDs stops burning and says There was a Burn Fail! I am using the New Nero. Please if you can help me fix this Please DO thanks

  2. Had a similar thing happen to me when my Yamaha CRW8824 (8x burner) would not burn above 4x. Check if you have DMA enabled on the IDE channel that your burner is connected to.

  3. also check your media supports the speed you r trying to burn at. i had this problem with the same burner, and realised that the cheap cds i was using werent supposed to be burnt any higher than 8x, so nero was automatically lowering the speed. when i tried some quality verbatim discs, the problem went away

    All good suggestions.
Also try making an image first and then burning that.

The October issue of PC World has a story about fastest CD burners, with a section about burning problems.

  6. Hey Guys thanks for all the help I found a way to fix it!
All you have to do is Up the Amount of Memory used as a buffer! Nero dose a default amount, For me with 256 Meg of memory it put 33 meg! So I kicked it up to 127meg (40% of my total, That all they will let you use!), and my 16x is flying Faster than Hell!!!! This is the burner I buy not that 8x sucker! ha ha, Well guys thanks for the help! Hope this might help you as well. Below is how to up the buffer on Nero.

click File, Preferences, Buffer Tab, then click the auto box to Manual Configurations and put the Memory up to 40% of your Total!

Thats all you have to do, Hope it helps
