I am capturing music videos in MainConcept from my DSS @ 720x480 29.970fps, audio PCM 48Khz. I leave it capture and then will split the files into individual videos later using Womble MPEG-VCR. I have tried this and burnt my dvd, but when it plays in my Panasonic RP-82 the videos seem, jumpy especially when there is fast motion in the video, and there seem to be horizontal lines in it too.
Not sure if my settings are correct in MainConcept or not?

    Any help is appreciated

This looks like an incorrect field order setting in interlaced video.

Somewhere in the sequence of steps you make, you re-encode tto MPEG-2. When you do that, check how field order is specified. Use the opposite setting instead.

If you produce video only MPEG-2 files (.m2v or .mpv), there is a handly little program called Restream that can change the field order setting in the file for you. Much faster than re-encoding. I would try that on the video and re-author.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  3. It could also be a case of dropped frame as you are capturing in real time in a compressed format which is quite demanding for any system. Try capturing in a lossless codec such as Huffy to see if the problem persist, or alternatively capturing at a lower resolution.

kyemeng, on all my captures I never drop a single frame, and when I watch the captured mpeg2 file on my hd it is perfect.
One other thing, is that if I view the dvd that I made on my computer, in PowerDVD it plays fine?

Sasi, when would I be changing the field order? My captures are already in mpeg2, unless one of the programs is re-encoding back to mpeg2, not sure if they do?

For field order, which should I choose? (first or second)

Ok, I figured it out, it was the Field Order setting in Main Concept, by default Lower DV is selected, so I changed it and it worked perfectly.
Now I have another question regarding Womble. Does Womble re-encode the audio if I captured it in PCM to Mpeg Audio? I would like to be able to cut my original capture up and keep the same video and audio formats. Is this possible?
