  1. I have been advised on Pinnacle forum by forum users and moderator to D/l a software enditall, to close un-needed programs while capturing. I went to D/L site and it does not mention Windows XP as compatible. Does anyone use this software with XP? Foz

EndItAll best used on win98/Me systems.

Use the 'services' feature of XP instead.

  7. I used EndItAll on my old computer running XP Home with no problem. Now I'm using it on my new computer running XP Pro with no problem. As for what it can and can not close it would depend on what you have running. In my experience I can say it has never closed any programs that were critical to my computer running. Almost forgot; if you are having problems with dropped frames and you have a network connection; temporarily disable it because your computer will keep checking for a connection and this can cause dropped frames.

  8. hudsonf, On the network connection, I always unplug the cat 5 cable from the network card. Does this disable LAN and internet from trying to access or should I go into network connections and disable these? Thanks Foz

  11. Foz; I always go into Network connection and disable it there. I always had a problem with dropped frames until I found out about disabling the network connection.

  13. Finally got my frame dropping cured. I had 359 files in my IE
favorites, I copied this favorite folder to 2nd HDD, and deleted the
favorites in IE down to 63 files. I captured two 30 minute DV tapes without
dropping a frame. Thanks to all. Fozj

  14. In response to DonPedro asking what it cannot stop. You can stop anything on the 'running' list. By default, many of running applications are protected but you have the ability to make them unprotected.
Heck, You can shut them down until the computer quits running. But when you restart everything is fine again. The instructions encourage you to experiment to see which of your processes can be ended as every computer is different. The program uses icons to indicate the type of process, it uses a gear icon for core processes. I have found it is best to leave those running. But, as far as XP goes, I think the enditall program was created before those XP was marketed because of the question mark that appears by some of the icons. I think this means enditall does not recognize that process in its library.
Since rebooting seems to fix everything, I feel pretty free to experiment. Warning: If you have shut down a lot of process in XP and are rebooting or shutting down, don't freak-out at all the scary messages you may get while its shutting down, it'll be ok when it restarts.
If it works, don't fix it.
