  1. As a new paying customer of Nero Recode 2, I thought it was a good idea to try and back up my DVD movies.

The first one I tried, Das Boot - Directors Cut, won't have it.

    Nero Recode 2 tells me:

This DVD is copy protected! Cannot decrypt VOB file.

Is there a way to get around this?

Surely it must be legal for me (in fact it IS legal in Norway) to back up my valuable collection of movies.

A friend told me to try DVD decrypter as that should work. But I would prefer not having to buy more software as Recode should be up for it.

DVD Decrypter is freeware, you pay nothing for it. Recode cannot read from a retail DVD because they are copy protected. DVD decypter breaks th copy protection while "ripping" it to your HD. Then Recode can compress it.
