  3. You will need a specialist DVD-Audio authoring application.
At the moment, the best one out there is Minnetonka Audio's DiscWelder Chrome. This is the one we use all the time and it is superb. Trouble is with the MLP encoder it weighs in at $4500.

However, they do a cut down version called discWelder Steel at $500. It has a lot of the features of Chrome, the notable exceptions being no MLP import and no DLT drive support either.

Coming soon will be an ultra cut down version called discWelder Bronze. This will only let you author 1 group, limiting you to 99 tracks per album, and the menu system is seriously primitive. Downmixes are handled by preset only. Still, for $99 you just cannot complain.

This is the better route, IMO,than Audio on DVD-Video which has a fair few pitfalls for the unwary.

Check it out at www.discwelder.com and please feel free to email me if you need any assistance. We author DVD-A every day and have it just about sorted now, including the "hybrid" versions with a Video_TS for compatibility purposes as not all DVD players support DVDA.

Good luck to you, whatever you decide
