  1. Hello ppl,

I was looking for your thoughts on the following; I have some DivX .avi files I’m looking to convert to mpg format for DVD. I’ve been looking at some converters like CucuSoft and other programs like that but these programs don’t let you set the maximum size of the output file so it can safely fit on a DVD.
So can anybody recommend a fast converter and also one that can set the final size so after 14 hours of converting it will fit on a DVDr.

    Thanks...

  3. If after conversion, your Mpeg is slightly too large, Authour it anyway then run it through DVD2one to get a perfect fit !

if you want free and arnt botherd by speed then go for TMPGEnc.

However if you arnt botherd about cost and want fast go for Main Concept.

  5. Canopus Procoder is also good, but much more money than TMPGEnc (which is also very good)

  6. Thanks for the help, i had a look at Canopus Pro and it seems to do the trick, I'm converting at 6.5fps now instead of 3 and 2.5fps with SuperDVD and CucuSoft...

    Thanks again...

  7. This might sound a daft question but I have never used Tmpgenc

When converting fron .avi to DVD to you need to split the audio and video then re-paste it back in before conversion

  8. Depends on how the audio is encoded. If it has a variable bitrate TMPGEnc does not handle this well so you need to save the auudio stream as an uncompressed wav file (virtual dub can do this) and use this wav file as the audio source in tmpgenc.
