I have a Cyberhome 1500 DVD Recorder and have made a dvd and want to edit it on my pc. The problem is that when I rip the dvd to my pc using DVD Decrypter and try to open the files my pc will not open the files.

Did yoiu RiP in File mode or ISO mode? What program are you trying to play it with? Can you play it directly from the DVD?
-
What I also tried to do was to burn the ripped files to another dvd using Record Now DX and it won't let me do that either. I had no problems viewing the dvd on my computer but once you tried to open up the ripped files it won't let me do it.

Im not familiar with the Cyberhome Recording format. What are the file extensions on the files when you ripped them to the HD. Are they .VOB? Try changeing the extension to .mpg and play.

Maybe you need to make the disc compatable on the Cyberhome before trying on the PC?? -
I have some DVD+RW discs that a friend made for me using his Philips stand alone DVD recorder (which like the Cyberhome 1500 does DVD+R and DVD+RW).
I too had DVD Decrypter trouble ripping them in FILE mode as well as ISO mode but I was able to rip them in IFO mode using STREAM PROCESSING. Make sure you select no file splitting and it should give you two complete files ... one file is the M2V which is the video and the other is the AC-3 audio file.
I then imported these into TMPGEnc DVD Author and did some very simple editing (just trimmed the start and end points) added chapters and compiled to a VIDEO_TS folder. I then made an ISO image file with TMPGEnc DVD Author and burned with DVD Decrypter to a DVD-R
Worked like a charm

In theory you should be able to add the VOB files directly from your burned DVD (i have done this with various other dvd's) but it just doesn't work with the Cyberhome DVD's...??? I am guess that the Cyberhome DVD recorder writes some header information that PC programs don't like...DVD Decrypter solves that problem though. After ripping the VOB files from your DVD to you hard drive you can then easly edit them with DVD lab. I usually set DVD Decrypter to NOT split files (that is if you know that the VOB files will all fit on 1 DVD). It is just alot easier to work with one file vs. like 5 or 6.
Hope this helps! -

You can import VOB files into TMPGEnc DVD Author as well. The reason why I used ripped M2V and AC-3 was because I couldn't get the DVD+RW discs I had to rip properly any other way (actually I think ISO mode worked but that wasn't any good for getting to the files needed for re-authoring).

Would be nice as a test if you could try creating IFO files for the VOB files then see how TMPGEnc DVD Author deals with importing and then editing them.
Would be nice to know that this works and/or doesn't work compared to the M2V/AC-3 method.

I must say though, I REALLY like DVD lab!
The way it imports VOB files is very handy. -

Menu design is not as nice ... this is true ... but otherwise I love TMPGEnc DVD Author and the lack of advanced menu design doesn't bother me.

To be honest with you...I tried TMPGEnc DVD Author fist, but didn't have success otherwise i would definently use it as well. I may try it again though, as it is like half the cost of DVD lab. You did demux both the video and the audio when ripping in IFO mode right? Actually....demuxing is probably where my sync problems are coming from. Did you use RAW stream settings??? -
I tried ripping just the VOB files from the disk using DVD Decrypter and I'm able to do that but still unable to open those files to view them in Power Dvd. I wanted to try to burn those files using Record Now DX and it won't let me do that either.

I used Nero to burn copies with no problems.
How did you make a copy of a disk that was made in a Cyberhome 1500 usiny Nero? -
gpwake,
Did you ever solve your sync issues? I had a cyberhome recorder for a while and never got it to work consistantly, looked fine when viewing disc recorded on cyberhome, but when I tried to rip it with decrypter and then author with anything I would get sync issues 3 times out of 5 or so. And got worse the longer the recording, I finnally got fed up and returned it and bought a phillip 75, now i just import files into authoring program and edit there and I have not had any sync issues at all, I dont know if it was decrypter doing it or if maybe the cyberhome wasnt exactly the correct audio 48khz or whatever. Anyway that is my experience with sync issues with the cyberhome
