Found a thread on another site that gives directions on how to flash this drive and retain HD burn capabilities. I have not tried this so "Buyer beware" but here is the information. Flash was found on the MSI tw website. Mine is working great with the 130I firmware and I have no need for the HD Burn at this time but thought I'd pass this info along.
Firmware Version DR8-A_130D(403 KB)
now have FirmWare 130x installed with HD-BURN Support. The FirmWare was loaded under Windows not DOS. Here's HOW !!!!
(1) Obtain the 120E FirmWare Update (contains three files).
(2) Go to the MSI site (DD0401 OEM) and download 130D firmware.
Please NOTE that the 130D update from MSI only runs in DOS. My DD0401 is USB 2.0 attached. Therefore, here is the work-around.
In the 120E(Optorite) directory delete the 120E.BIN file.
Copy the 130D.BIN from the 130D(MSI) directory to the 120E(Optorite) directory.
Flash the drive. You will now have FirmWare 130D w/HD-BURN support installed. Hope this helps...

Guess I should have posted this link as to where to get the firmware
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_firmware_detail.php?UID=526
Let me repeat though, I have not tried this so use with cautiion.
I am currently using firmware 130I and after flashing from 110 almost no coasters so far. I am using Princo 2X with no problems and yes I know Princo causes many probems but the price was right for the disks (free from a friend that hated them). -
why cant you run the dos flash software from a dos box (under winows) thus retaining access to you usb 2.0

I didn't say that you could or could not from Windows or Dos, I just found and pasted this link from another site on how to possibly make the latest flash work. As I posted above, I have not tried it my self as the 130I firmware update works fine for me, BUT there have been a few other prior posts asking on a way to retain the HD-Burn feature and prior to finding the above post no one aparently knew how to do it to the 130 firmware and retain the HD-Burn feature. I hope that the above is a solution for those wanting to know. If anyone knows of another way or an easier way please post it.
Sorry didn't mean to rant and rave but only trying to assist, not create disention. My personal drive is an internal so the external USB dosen't create any problems for me or apply to me in any way, just to the person posting the original notes which were posted verbatium.
