I updated my 107D with the modified firmware 1.10 and whenever I select 4x to burn a disk it takes half an hour which idicates its only burning at 2x.

Software used is both latest versions of DVD shrink and Clone DVD.

Any ideas appreciated. I know rpc1 and 12x dvd ripping run beautifully.

Anybody else experiencing slow dvd-r burns with this firmware? I use ritek G04 so they should burn at 4x

  2. I have the 107d and others like the 106 and sony.. but the 107 so far is the worst drive.... it works on media that is like a 50/50% chance. If you get the right media it is also the same n the 1.05 bios or the 1.10 bios are also buggy as hell. got 300 sample packs and only 100 works so far and the 100 that works [burnt well] only 70 can be viewed on the DVD player other 30 cannot be read ..back from the PC or any stand alone.. 1000s of message of this problem is all over the fourms on the 107d. It is not a bad drive but maybe newer revisions of the BIOS might help. Like the 106 previous also had the same problem but it got fixed like 10 months later. stay with 106... we put statistic data on the writers for companies to use n FCC approval... many the dept did could not be read on other dept ROM readers even with new BIOS updates from Pioneer itself.. write fast 6 or 8x is nice but cannot be read back is not point.. yes we use G3, G4, 105 bios, 1.10 bios and 1.07 BIOS and several dozen of PCs with 106 [very stable 4x on mostly all media] and 107 on 8 test beds.. ony 1 PC with the 1.05/ 1.10 had a 65-70% success rate... others were slightly lower [all complete similar configurations and parts and memory.. hope this helps and Pioneer come up with new and better bios.. we used the official 1.10 but success had a lower than 20% success rate on a 100 discs sample and with a nearly 60-70% with the hack bios. Still a time frame based on previous BIOS releases at a 5-6 month window that a better or more reliable ones comes along.

You're burning with DVDShrink and CloneDVD? Maybe try a different burning software. For my 104 and Sony Dru510a i was using Nero and Recordnow Max alot @2x & 4x w/no problems. Since i got the 107D w/'patched' 1.10 firmware, i've been using DVD Decrypter w/no probs. Like i said in another thread....1x white top Princos @6x(10min) and RitekG04 @8x(7 1/2min) w/no read errors in DVDinfoPro. They all have worked flawlessly in both my DVD players(1 of them being an old Toshiba). And those who have borrowed from me have had no troubles either.

So you might wanna try that....Come back and let us know what happened?

Yes you need the following firmware files and utilities to do it.

    http://flashman.rpc-1.com/Firmware/PIONEER/DVR-107D/OFFICIAL/OFFICIAL_PioneerDVR-107_v...0_DVRFlash.zip

You can not do it with pioneers official 1.10 release

  8. I downloaded the flashman utility and the instructions don't say anything about removing the 1.10 firmware and reverting to the original. Anyone else know where to get the removal tool.

if you download the file I linked 2 messages above it all you need. its a dos flash utility

There is no need to remove the old firmware. Just flash the drive with the utility provided and it will just overwrite whaterver firmware is currently installed with the firmware you are currently installing.

    1) unzip the files to a directory on your hard disk

    2) edit the DVRFlash shortcut file and relace Program shortcut, cmd Line and change The F in F: to correspong with whatever driver letter is assigned with you pioneer 107D Dvd rom drive.

    3) run the batch file DVRFlash and agree to the license.

That should be all you need. You should now have the origional pioneer 1.10 firmware back on you 107.

ALthough all the instructions are in the README file countained within the zip file.
