  1. so far I've made a backup of 2 dvd's using DVD Shrink (also I used DVD X Copy XPRESS with the same problem). The DVD's come with menu and everything else and the picture looks good, but the edges of the movie are cut off. one of my movies has words that go to the very edge of the screen but now with my copy the words are cut off. it doesn't go into full screen mode. it only takes like 5% off of the picture on both sides. but it's still really annoying to me. it's like it's zoomed in just a little but i've tried fixing it with my Zoom button and it doesn't do it. i've looked in tons of forums and help guides and can't find this problem. I use DVD+R's. Could the media be the problem? cause i think my DVD player plays anything (maybe it plays DVD+R's it just isn't supposed to and can't do it right) Or maybe Nero6? But i used DVD XCOPY Xpress too. Thanks for any help.

  2. You might not have found your answer because you don't know what the problem is, but rest assured that the answer is here because there are about 10 people a week asking this question. It's called overscan, and it's a normal thing that TV's do.
This can be fixed somewhat by re-adjusting your arrange method in TMPGEnc. For instance a DVD encoded at 720x480 with an arrange method of "Center Keep Aspect Ratio" will be cut off because of overscan, but if you encode at 720x480 and then set TMPGEnc to "Center Custom Size" and choose a resolution of 704x464 you will be able to see the entire picture on your screen. NOTE when encoding you will see that there is a black border around your footage. In PowerDVD there WILL be a black border around your footage. On a television 99% of that border will be cut off and you keep your picture.
