  1. Hi to All

I have purchased a DMR-HS2 and am trying to connect it to the Pace cable box. Following the instructions for wiring SCART / SCART from the Recorder output of the cable box to the decoder input (AV2) of the HS2, I get no picture communication from cable box to the HS2. I have tried two cables, with no luck, checked the output of the cable box (works OK when connected to my VCR), re-tuned the HS2 (countless times using all kinds of input / output modes.

I also tried wiring the Pace box to the HS2 via a SCART to L/R audio and Video phono plug cable. This worked once, but now does not.

The preferred connection is SCART/ SCART so I can use the RGB mode.

Any help or suggestions greatfully received.

  2. Just a thought - on my Pace cable box RGB is only available from the TV SCART output, which is switchable either Composite or RGB via a menu setting. The VCR ouput is always Composite.

I don't know whether your Pace box is similar, but I wonder whether these issues might be anything to do with your problem?

  3. Hi Seb

I have tried all combinations of input settings for the HS2 against all output settings for the Pace box. I have tried connecting the Pace box TV out to the HS2. This causes the image recieved by the HS2 to suffer from interference or some sort of spoiler signal (Blueyonder logos floating about) ghosting the image. I now get absolutely no communication from the Pace box to the HS2 through AV2 or AV4 inputs (tried both). The recorder used to receive OK though AV4 (no RGB capability or auto aspect ratio swithcing though).

The desired configuaration is Pace VCR socket to HS2 AV2 socket. Both set to RGB. If RGB goes to TV only, it wont be a problem, but as I said, I have tried it all ways.

Having got completely hacked off with it, I can only conclude that there is a defect with the HS2 (design or defect, it dont work like it ought to). I dont think it is an error in connections (12 years in the electronics industry and a living room that has always housed enough electronics to put a man on the moon). I am returning the whole kit for an exchange unit tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed that the new unit works out OK.

  4. Update

Must have been a defective unit. Replacement unit works fine first time. Thanks to Richer Sounds for excellent customer service and no quibble exchange. Not quite the cheapest supplier about, but one of the very best for customer service over the years.
