  1. Hey,

i read the last 5 days several threaths. I want to back up my favorite TV Series. They are originally 6 episodes on 1 dvd, 3 on each side (Flipper Disk).
The Problem ist, that i want to be able to jump to each episode on the new dvd but also keep the subtitles and the 2 audio streams.
If i use DVD Shrink (Re-Authoring), i can keep the languages and the subtitles. But i can't skip to another chapter, tested it on a DVD-RW. (same with DVD2One or DVDFab).
And if i use TMPG DVD Author, i can skip to different chapters, but the program will cut the subtitles as well as the 2nd audio stream.

Is there any chance to do that? Are there any settings i have to change in DVDShrink so the program creates the chapters for me? Or is there a possibility that i can create them by myself without losing the 2nd audio stream?

    Thx in advance,
    Sebastian

Do you want the six episodes on one DVD ?
If you want to use two DVD's you can copy the whole disk with dvddecryptor (iso-read & iso-write) as each of the sides will fit on a single DVD+-R(W).

  3. That would work, but the 6 of them fit almost exactly without loss of quality on 1 dvd, so why waste 2 dvdr?
Like i said, i don't care much about the menu, but i would like to keep the two audio streams and the possibility to jump to each episode.

  4. Stop threatening your DVDs and they might cooeperate! Just kidding.

Have you tried DVD-Lab yet? Just import the VOBs without demuxing. That should keep all the content you have, and allow you to skip around to you're hearts content. I've never tried this myself, but should be doable. Lucky for you DVD-Lab has a 30 day trial, so you can test it out.l

  5. you're asking to do a lot.....it may be possible, I'm not sure

Personally, I would use DVDDecrpter to rip each side of your dvd to your hard drive, and then use DVDShrink to rip each epidode into it's own title set on the same dvd in Reauthor mode.... Episode 1 would be vts_01_1, episode 2 would be vts_02_1, etc.

You would then have a dvd where the beginning of each episode would act as a chapter point. Of course if there were a lot of chapter points in each episode, negotiation would depend on how fast you could tap your thumb on chapter advance/reverse.

Another thing you could try....hopefully somone knows whether this would work or not....is to use Rejig and TMPGEnc DVDAuthor.

For instance....if you used Shrink to create a VIDEO_TS folder of episode 1, you could then use Rejig in IFO Mode to demux all the video, audio and subscript components and then use TDA to author a dvd with selectable chapters for each episode. I just don't know if all of those components would still be functioning in the final dvd in your standalone.

I wish TDA would work a little better with all the aspects of a dvd folder, but....oh well, it works pretty well otherwise.

  6. just tried experiment with rejig....it will demux the subtitles, but I don't think that will do you any good.....they're rather useless demuxed with nowhere to go

    try the 1st option

  7. I work with TDA a lot, and i think it's a pretty cool program coz its so easy to use and still has the most popular functions.
But without a multiple audio mode it's not very interesting for now..

I already tried to rip each episode, but the result is the same as mentioned above - can't skip between the tracks.
I don't know why, but it's not possible

    It's a pretty annoying problem..

A few minutes ago i tried to update my IFO Files with IFOEdit. But after i updated them, the burning tool from TDA won't burn it on DVD-RW anymore.
When i'm using the old ones, it works perfectly..

hmmm...that's weird. I've actually used this method before on an episode disk so that's why I though it would work.

You were using the start/end frame function in ReAuthor mode to define the episodes?

I've heard that some episode disks are real tricky....you may have one

  9. I tried with and without the start-end function. But actually it didn't seem to me to make any difference.
    Or did i anything wrong?

It's the american sitcom "Friends" by the way; but the dvds i try to backup are the German Version.
