  1. Hello Everyone,

I have SONY NS715P DVD Standalone Player, and I'm trying to convert my VCD MPG1 format to DVD.

I know the safest way is to conver the MPG1 format to MPEG-2 format with 720x480 29.97fps format.

However, my VCD resolution size only half of the 720x480, and it takes alot of time to convert to higher resolution.

I do see a guide that showed you to merge mpeg1 format together, then convert the sound to 48000. Then use TMPEGENC to author the DVD, but I can never get this to work. I have totally how to get this method to work to save time.

The current convert method I use is use TMPEGEnc to conver my combined mpeg1 to MPEG-2 format using the DVD(NTSC) setting in TMPEGEnc, but this method takes alot of time, because the resolution goes up to 720x480, but my original VCD mpeg-1 format is only half of that. Is there a way to lower the resolution to the DVD mpeg-2 compatible format?

    Thank you for your time.

MPEG-2 on a DVD can be 352x240 (which is the same resolution as VCD)

You can also use 352x480 or 720x480

but if your source is VCD then try MPEG-2 at 352x240

If you are using TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 there is a WIZARD MODE template for this MPEG-2 resolution called NTSC (low resolution)

Try that and it should work A-OK

Please note that you will loose some quality when doing the conversion but if you use a high enough bitrate it will be minimal.

I'm not sure what is a good MPEG-2 bitrate for this resolution but I'm guessing that 2000kbps should be good enough.
