Tool for index repair

Hi,
M
y mustek-dvd-300 doensn't fastforward or f-backward
while playing svcd's. Tools I use:
- dvd2avi
- tmpg12h with svcd template
- nero 5.5

I got the tip to look for a tool which 'repairs' the
index so my Mustek will playback svcd correctly.

Does anyone know such a tool or knows another solution?

Your problem is not that you need to repair something. A file called SCANDATA.DAT which should be in the EXT directory of your disk is missing. Nero unfortunately doesn't make this file (for whatever reasons!), but there are a few ways you can make it yourself:

1.) By opening a simple texteditor and calling a new created file "SCANDATA.DAT". In this file you type "SCAN_VCD" (do not hit enter) and save the file. This file you include into your EXT directory
PLUS: FF and FREW work - easy to make
NEG: not search/Go to feature anymore

2.) You can use VCDImagerGUI to create an image file which you burn into Nero
PLUS: All features work - easy to use software
NEG: No menus

3.) You can use the "extraction method" as described in

PLUS: All features work
NEG: Takes somewhat longer

4.) You can use VCDImager (free) or I-Author (very expensive). VCDImager is commandline based software and slightly more difficult to use.


So as you see, the choice is yours.
