  1. I am running xp and use DVD XCopy Platinum or Xpress. I backup 99% of all my dvds without a single problem. However, there a cases in which it gets through the first step (the ripping it) and when it gets to the second step it says "insert blank disk" so I do and hit start. It then immediatly says "error writing disk" Like I said, I have few disks that will do this. One scenario is the Sopranos 4th season disk 2. I have backed up all 4 of the seasons except that one disk without any problems. Someone told me that disney movies will be the same and that the problem is Macro Vision and I need a decrypter. Is this true? If so, where do I download a decrypter and how do I know which one to use. I don't even know what a decrypter is. Also, will it automatically work with my XCopy. If not, what do I do.

i would try ripping with dvd decrypter, and then encoding with dvdshrink. they are both free programs. p.s. dvdxcopy sucks

  3. Ok, sorry I'm a bit new to this. The DVDDecrypter is the ripping part like the 1st step on xcopy. the dvdshrink is what? do I need a different program to burn it or can I use the xcopy to burn it?

  4. dvddecrypter is used to decrypt the copyprotection on dvd's if there is one.

Dvdshrink is used to shrink dvd-9 (dual layered, commercial dvd's) to one dvd-5 (single layered dvd, which are the dvd-r, +r, rw that you and everybody else here uses.)

All of this stuff can be answered by reading the guides on your left.
