  1. I was browsing through the tools and saw a link for the Virtualdub Start Timer. Does anyone have information on this program, or have you used it? I tried to go to the site, but it was all in German or something so I don't know exactly what the program does. Do you use it to set VirtualDub to record at a certain time? Can you set it VirtualDub to record multiple times throughout the day, ie 12pm - 12:30pm and 2pm - 2:30pm? Can you set it to have VirtualDub change the channel (assuming I just have a cable running directly into the computer, no cable box or anything)? Any information on this program that seems like it could be a godsend would be greatly appreciated.

  3. yes, nope, nope, nope.

ok you set vdub on the channel and format you want. press ready to record.

open the timer and set the start and end time, press ready.

now you leave them alone and it will start and finish vdub 1 time.

  4. Okay a few more questions...

if I have VirtualDub setup to create segmented AVI files, will that be fine with the timer? IE if I set the recorder to record an hour, will VirtualDub capture that hour as smaller AVI files or will it try to save the whole thing as one long AVI file?

Also, if there's any experienced programmers in this forum, someone should try to update this program to work more like a digital VCR. I would love to be able to set it up to record a given channel at a given time for a given length and then later, on my free time, edit the AVI files. If only there were such a program... if only there were a way.

  5. yes, virtualDUB will segment, all the start program really does is press enter on virtualdub and press escape on virtualdub to start and stop it from running.

if you pay for iuVCR or AVI_IO you can have all your cake and eat it too. both have full recorders.
