  1. I can put 10 hours of music (via MP3) on a CD-R...I want to take advantage of DVDR's extended capacity and put 40 hours or so of music (via MP3) on a single DVDR. I realize it doesn't exactly work the same way, and that I have to multiplex the audio with a BMP still into an MPG format the way DVD players like.

What's the best way to go about this? I remember seeing a post here on DVDRHELP.COM about how to do it, and it involved DVD Maestro, I think. I have that, but I don't have a copy of the post. A little help?

There is an excellent guide here.

    My synopsis:
Rip your CDs to WAV files.
Use TMPGEnc to merge WAVs with a black screen JPEG or BMP.
Use TMPGEnc DVD Author to create structure/menus.
    Burn with whatever you like.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. Why don't you just put all your mp3 files on a data DVD and get a player that can play mp3 files off an ISO disk?

I just used Make MP3 Disk option on the DVD tag in Nero StartSmart. It probaly just makes aDVD data disk with the MP3's on it though.

It works on computers and three different standalone DVD players that I have. (not a playstation though if I remember correctly)

It would be simple to test yourself using a DVD RW.

The only problem I have is that some individual MP3's don't play on the stand alone. If I recode them using say dBpowerAMP Music Converter, they will then be ok. I have seen suggestions that it may be the bit rate being under 128 kb/s but I've got a lot of narrated books on CD as MP3's at a bit rate of 24 or 32 that play just as well on the same standalone players. It may be that the actual codec that made the MP3 in the first place cannot be decoded properly.

Give it a go (suck it and see)!!
