  1. Hi...
With the movie Tomorrow never dies
I use DVD Decrypter to backup to HD...I do it because , I Cant keep the movie with me log time , I use The File way, you know....

Then I open DVD Shrink (3.1.6), open files.....I dont use Analysys because the full disc is less then 4 GB

I dont touch or change anything else in DVD Shrink...
Backup in DVD Shrink (Is in DVD Region Free)...

    No problem...
I open Nero , put all the files create by the DVD Shrink (In the VTS folder) in the Video folder)....burn it (twice one in DVDR and one in DVDRW)...

    No problem .....

The problem is when I put it in my DVD Player (Home player)... I have one message about my player dosnt support the region of the movie....

    Why?

To me... DVD Shrink never have been failed when I use Re-author mode...with all the steps described before (DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink Re-author, Nero)

    Can You help me...

    Note:
The only time I do it a full backup was with DVD Shrink 3.0.5 beta, and works well
    Questions
    Is the movie?
    is the DVD Shrink version?
I do it some thin wrong?

    Thank by Advanced

  2. Hi poncho.

When making the backup with DVD Shrink, did you see a message about RCE protection?
If yes, you have to make sure you selected the correct region, the one corresponding to the original disc.

    Hi,

Take a look at the guide listed below. Take note of the Region Patching instructions at the end of the guide.

    Hopes it helps.

  8. a related issue...i decrypted and shrunk a dvd, burned it with Copytodvd in the usual manner (have done hundreds w_no problems), and when i try to play the dvdr in PowerDVD or my settop Apex i get a message that this player does not match the region on the disc. funny, the original dvd is region 1
now the kicker...when i have this dvdr in my computer drive and go to explorer to look at the files, if i double-click on one of the 1G movie files it plays in PowerDVD just fine so why can't it play when i load the complete movie in PowerDVD where i can access the menu and extras (i did a full backup in Shrink, no reauthoring).
BTW the info DVD Decrypter gives me for this dvdr is...

    IFO is Region 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
    RCE Protection: NO
    ...same as all my burns.
Any suggestions other than re-ripping and burning a new copy (this time on dvdrw)? thanks in advance for all replys.

if you own the dvd, why can't you keep it a long time?

  11. @Noki . When you play a vobfile the region is not checked, I believe it's in the ifo is why, which is why you only get the issue when playing from the disk mode.

@ Poncho : Why on earth are you dvdshrinking a move that you already ripped with decrypter and is already a DVD-5 ?
    Just burn it!

thanks for replying. how did it get in the IFO(s) if my settings in Decrypter and Shrink has not changed for as long as i have been backing up my dvds? plus according to Decrypter I have all the regions covered. this is my only backup that has this problem. thanks again.

    @poncho,

before you get pounced upon, be careful what you say as certain things are illegal and can't be discussed here

p.s. check out the Fair Use/Backup section in the Rules if you are unaware of it

  17. true that, the rules are good and clear.

Back to the point: if youa re trying to backup your movie you bought, and it is dvd-5 already (1 layer) then skip the dvdshrink section. in DVD Decryptor click mode>iso>read , choose filename, then mode>iso>write.

    BAM all in one!

  18. Hi....thanks for the advice.....
Be sure Im not doing nothing ilegal...
If in my words I show that, is because my English is not good has I wish....

The Disk belong a friend and I help to do it the backup ....

...I still have the DVD ripped in the HD with DVD Decrypter..

I try the tools of DVD Decrypter for watch region info...
    Choose Region 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
    No protection RCE

But..But I cant play it with WINDVD, choose blue screen with message... "something the player dosnt support the region of the disc"

The question is , if the DVD is Region 4, and the DVd ROM is Region 4, why.....the problem..

Has I read there is some kind of program inside the IFO file where check that the region of the DVD be the same as a value in side the program...
If I understand well,I think when I ripped I change the region of the DVD (Because the DVD Decrypter is in region free) son the program dosnt match with the region internally programed.

    Is that true?

I just tried WinDVD a couple weeks ago. I found a lot of disks that it would play from the DVD ROM but would not play the same files from the hard drive. Try Power DVD- so far it plays everything I've tried.

  20. I think the problem is not the WinDVD , because play all videos and movies....the problem is the "message" that appear ( In the DVD player home appear too)....
