  2. Heres what I think:

    1. -R been out longer, more time to make media
    2. More bad/cheap -R media out there.

I have had lots of bad experience with my DRU500a with -R compared to +R media. Purely anecdotal....

  3. I pay the same for both anywhere form 70 cents to $1 each and +R will burn faster, I get 4x +R and it will burn at 6x in my NEC 2500a, -R burns only at the recomended speed, only one media in -R I have any luck burning faster some TDK 2x -R's will burn at 4x, plus don't be fooled while some -R media is cheapper on sale it is usually a slower speed rated media over the same in +R, usually 85 cent -R is 2x while the $1 +R is 4x, both on sale is by the same manufacturer also.
I will stick with -R until the NEC2500a comes out with a bitsetter then I'll switch back over to +R, I only use +RW media at this time cause NERO 6.0 express will write the +RW as a DVD-Rom, changing the bit type.

  6. I'd say it's a supply vs. demand thing. There is probably more of a supply surplus for DVD-R's. I doubt there is a higher manufacturing cost for DVD+R's, but there may be.

  7. @assemblage: I have heard that it is the other way around. -R are more expensive to make than +R. So if that is the case I belive the price difference might be due to the number of dye manufacturers in the two camps, In the +R there is mainly rioch. In contrast there are a number of them in the -R camp. Or it could just be that since +R haven't sold as many yet it has not yet paid for the investments in the plants like one would think the -R has done.

  9. Likewise... +R and -R sell for the same price at the stores around here, currently about $2.00 per disc for the name brands like TDK, Maxell, and Fuji. Thank God for the 'net, where I can buy Ritek G04's for 96 cents each.
