    just bought a new gfx card online its agp 8x but ive only just realised my board only suppoerts agp 4x!!!!!!! will the card default down to this or not work at all,

    Your card will run at 4x no problems.

    Don't feel bad, the 8x AGP boards can't utilize those speeds yet anyway. They may run slightly faster than a 4x board but not by much.
