  1. I've been making VCDs for quite awhile, but have just noticed this problem.

I was trying to export a still-image to a 1 hour VCD with a lot of white on the background. The resulting file has a very slight vertical flicker on the left and right edges. I've even tried resizing the image to 352x240 so the VCD software doesn't have to resize it itself. I've used both Ulead Video Studio and Premiere's MPEG exporter, each with the same results.

Now I notice that some of my older VCD files (with audio and moving video) also display this flaw, but it just wasn't as noticeable.

I've also tried doing different things with the fields in Premiere before exporting (changing field order, deinterlacing, etc.) without any change.

    Any ideas?

Some instability on edges is pretty common. Usually if the end product is to be shown on a TV, they are in the overscan area and not visible.
