    Hi All,

When I try to make a DVD (or other output), there is always a slight pause of about ½ second at the end of one clip before the next one starts. It looks as if the last frame of a clip just freezes for a moment. This happens only with AVCHD MTS files (Canon Vixia HF-R21) regardless of the editing software being used (Vegas, VideoWave, and PowerDirector. I see this happen within the editing software when I play back the series of clips, and also in whatever format I output the video.

I don’t get this problem with AVI clips from my old miniDV camera. Is this problem do with using AVCHD MTS files, or is it something else?

    I have a Dell Precision M4500, 8 GB RAM, i7 Processor @1.73Ghz, running Windows 7 64 bit, 500GB HD, 3TB External Drive.

    Thanks,
    Dom

I forgot to add that when I play the clips directly from the video camera there is no pause/delay.

Apart from the *.mts files in AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM, there are other files in those folders that contain info on how these *.mts files can be seamlessly stitched together. But this is relevant only if the program used to open the *.mts files recognizes these other miscellaneous files.
For example, clicking on any of the 2GB chunks of *.mts files in WMP in Win7/64 will open and play only that file. When you import these files into Premiere Pro CS5, however, these chunks will appear as one big seamless file, representing the moment the camcorder "start" button was pressed to commence recording until it was pressed again to stop. The stitched file doesn't have any audio or video gaps, and will include all recorded files between consecutive presses of the camcorder "start' button; it will be named after the first files in the group, ie, if there are 3 consecutive files 0001.mts, 0002.mts, and 0003.mts, after Premiere stitches them, it will be named 0001.mts.
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".

This is interesting. None of the editing programs I have used so far seem to recognize these other files. I cannot afford Premier Pro. Do you know if Premier Elements will recognize those files and remove those pauses?

    Hi Dom,

I used multiAVCHD to join multiple mts files into one mts and didn't encounter the freeze between each join. Of course, all these files were taken from the same Sony HDR cam.

You can make a DVD out of this one mts file.

Not sure if this helps but you can give it a try.
