  1. Hi, I want to record a clip and save it in my computer, using Windows Movie Maker or such a program..

ok, so I have Asus GeForce 2 GTS Deluxe Pro 64MB DDR
and a Sony (CCD-TRV27E) regular video cam.

I've connected the cam. to the vid. card and installed NVIDIA WDM Drivers (Ver 1.19 as ver 1.23 didn't work for me).

I open WMM and press File=>Record, I get the pic from the video cam, and everything is good.. I hit record, and then a WHITE bar appears in the center of the screen of what i record.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this white bar!?

(also when I try to broadcast a "live event" using Microsoft Media Encoder, the white bar appears...)

**Here is an example of what i mean :

    thnx in advance!

This looks like something a trial version of a codec or capture program would do - although it's usually their company name that they insert into the video.

Are you using any trial versions of either, (perhaps a DV codec)?

  4. You think that if I'll try another program it'll work properly?
If so, Which program should I download??

  5. voodoo5 I had the exact same problem. Using a P3 750, asus v7700 deluxe gforce II card my captures suddenly had a white bar going through the middle 3rd of the screen. I couldn't try the card in another comp since none of my friends had one with a AGP slot, and I was too cheap to take it to a shop to test. I tried different drivers and everything I could do on my own but notta.

I bought a ati radeon 7500 AIW, the problem is gone so it was my video card that packed it in. To bad the card still works great (except for the capture part) I wasn't ready to upgrade, and the 7500 doesnt bench mark much better than my gforce II. I couldn't afford anything better at this time, or I would get a AIW 8500 or better yet screw the capture card thing and get a Dazzle unit and a straight gaming card.

My Videocard maker, Compro, said it was Macrovision protection.
If I run prerecorded vhs tapes thru capture it appears. fine with my camcorder though, although the bar does appear when I FF or REW the camera.
There are threads here discussing this problem and the use of WDM1.08 as a fix. I couldn't get my capture set up to work with this WDM version.

You may need to buy an extranal Macrovision remover.

Please let me know how you go.
    cheers

Sound like the same problem I had with Macrovision. Try a search on NEW SIMA SED-CM VIDEO COPY MASTER STABILIZER

Does any one still have this problem? Ive updated my main board from Soyo Dragon Plus (VIA266) to Asus A7N8X-X (NFORCE400) and my Asus V7700 Deluxe stop working like before. Its dropping frames when I use VirtualDub. It refuses to capture at the frame rate that I choose. Example: if I select 29.97, VirtualDub gets it at 29.95. Before I upgrade my main board it works exactly as aspected. By the way, which combination of nvidia driver and wdm capture are you all using these days?

    Thanks in advance.

ScottB is correct you need to use nVidia WDM 1.08 drivers to eliminate the Macrovision.

This one I was using without problems but with the new chipset of my main board, Its dropping more frames that I would expect. Now Im searching a better driver combination to solve this frame drop problem. Thanks in any way.

  11. I'm experiencing the same problem as the original poster (white screen) when trying to record non-protected material (i.e. copies of my self-filmed tapes) from VCR via the composite line. Compro support says it's my VCR sending out the Macrovision signal but I've tried with not less than four different VCRs and I still can't record my own tapes ?!?

    PatW,
I had the same problem with my own recorded VCR tapes after I upgraded my capture drivers. It was fixed when I went back to the older version.
