  1. At the end of the TMPGEnc Wizard to convert avi to mpeg2, there is an option saying "Output audio and video as individual elementary streams" Does anyone know what this means?

    Thanks

Yes, some DVD Authoring programs need separate streams for Audio and Video. They will be multipled during the Authoring process.
As tmpgenc has known issues with Audio, this is the best way to make a perfect DVD:create mpv (the video stream) and add Audio later.
And elementary stream is nothing else but a file containg video or audio only.

AHA!....multiplied!!....so that's why so many people are having trouble with VIDEO_TS folders that are 3 times the size of a dvd-r.

this multiplication issue must be an evil plot of Jack Valenti

  5. Ok thanks.

I didn't select this option when I converted my avi to .mpg and now I have no Video_TS and Audio_TS files. How do I burn it without them? I tried multiplexing the mpeg afterwards and it came up with 'illegal video mpeg stream'!

How did you author the DVD?Without Authoring, you can't burn it.
Ifoedit is a bare bone authoring tool (without chapters) or use any Author Tool (see tool section on the left)

  7. Oh, I think that's my mistake then. I converted it from avi to mpg and thought the mpg file should have had video and audio_Ts folders. Are these what's created during the authoring process? I am planning on using Ifoedit as the movie has a separate subtitles file.
