  1. I need just a segment of a homevideo dvd converted into mpeg. Im sure you already know it is a long process to convert vob's into mpegs, so im trying to find a way to cut off the segment i need from the bigger vob file, so it wont take that long to convert it. Also, i wanted to cut and join segments extracted from the dvd in a montage, and the software i have can only edit other formats of video files, not vob's. How can i do this and with which software?

    Thanks

  2. You could try using TMPGEnc DVD Author (TDA) to re- capture the burned dvd's VOB files by using the "add video" funtion... which will also give you the option to regenerate an mpg file.
Just have the burned dvd loaded in your computer's so that you can navigate in TDA to it's VIDEO_TS folder and follow TDA's instruction.
You could then use TDA's edit function to cut/splice the mpg and burn what you want of the file into a new dvd....
    Always check helpfiles/instructions before leaping...

  3. This is the way I did mine. I just changed the extension to mpg. I then
opened window media video, inserted the clip and saved it as a wmv. and then used Ulead Studio 7. I inserted the video in Ulead, rendered it and saved it as an Mpg. No problems with audio or video. The reason I inserted in Ulead was the orginal clip played choppy and the audio was out of synch. The longest portion was renedering, otherwise it was about a total of 20 mins. If you have a large clip it may take longer. I hope you find this helpful
