  2. My test steps were as follows:

    1. I opened Ulead DVD Workshop 2.0;

    2. I clicked the NEW PROJECT button;

    3. After the NEW PROJECT pop-up menu appeared, I typed a name for the new project and I clicked the OK button;

    4. I clicked the CAPTURE step button and I specified a location for the file I would be copying from a DVD-RAM disc recorded in a Toshiba D-R1 DVD player/recorder using stereo AC-3 sound;

    5. I clicked the EDIT step button and I clicked the IMPORT FROM DVD button;

    6. After the BROWSE FOR FOLDER pop-up menu appeared, I browsed to the location of the DVD-RAM disc in my Panasonic SW-9571 DVD-R/DVD-RW/DVD-RAM drive;

    7. I noted the presence of a DVD-RTAV folder on the drive disc and I used my mouse to highlight the folder and I clicked the OK button;

    8. The SELECT PLAYLIST pop-up menu appeared;

    9. I used my mouse to highlight the term "ALL" and I clicked the NEXT button;

    10. The SELECT SCENES TO CAPTURE pop-up menu appeared;

    11. I highlighted the thumbnail representing the scene I wanted to capture and I noted the following properties read-out:

    NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
    Field Order B
    (DVD-NTSC), 4 : 3
    Video data rate: Constant (9000 kbps)
    Audio data rate: 384 kbps
    AC-3 Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)

    12. I clicked the FINISH button and I observed as the file was copied from the disc to the location on my hard disk specified earlier.

    Did you try these steps?

    If you experience instability, I would then ask:

    Did you download/install the NIMO or Tsunami codec packs?

    According to Microsoft:

    "Nimo and Tsunami codec packs are untested compilations of various codecs and filters commonly used on the Internet."

    "Incompatibilities are known to exist with some of the components in the packs."

    "The incompatibilities can cause SERIOUS PLAYBACK ISSUES in Windows Media Player and other multimedia programs, LEAD TO SYSTEM CORRUPTION, and make it difficult for Microsoft Support to diagnose and troubleshoot playback issues."

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/software/v7/v7faq.aspx?section=PLAYBACKI...PLAYBACKISSUES

    I would suggest that you remove those codec pack installations if you installed them.

  3. Thanks for the reply, when I get to step 4 I choose the VIDEO_TS folder, step 8 never appears it goes straight to step 10,I choose a scene and press finish the progress bar moves along to the end it then thinks for a while and then it crashes.
    I have never installed any codec packs.
