I've been using Memorex DVD+R discs and have been experiencing problems (stuttering) that I think is caused by my media (I've tried everthing else I could think of besides trying different discs). So, I've decided to give Ritek discs a try since so many of you swear by them. However, since I don't know much about these discs, I'm wondering if the Ritek G04 discs that I've found on eBay look like the ones that you guys are recommending. Can someone help me out by taking a look at the auction and see if it looks like what you would suggest that I get (seems like a very good price, but I want to make sure I'm getting the right type of Ritek disc).

    Thanks for your help!

  2. (Since no one answered) Judging by his feedback, Id say "Yes, go ahead and make a buy". What you should do is look to the left and see "DVD Media" and look at the identifying code (the really long string of 0's and whatnot), compare them, and then yeah. Hope your burner is -/+, since you mentioned you use DVD+Rs.

Now as for your memorex DVD+R, depending on who manufactured them, you may have some top of the line ones. Ritek, Ricoh and CMC (which has mixed results) all manufacture Memorex's dvdr's. Heres the link for it: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?dvdmediasearch=memorex&dvdmediadvdridsearch=&type...+or+List+Media

Download DVDInfoPro and examine the Media Code, that'll tell you who made them.

  5. yeah... but stay away from Meritline.... as we've all been through this before. Try Rima.com, or folks keep posting deals for Ritek at Newegg... whatever... Many have also had problems with Ritek lately... so who knows, I've burn almost 200 no problems, but thing are always changing, and so are deals so I've been grabbing the Fuji TY's, Maxell, and TDK media for about the same price.

This is some good media. I have a NEC-2500a and bought some ritek G04's and i had some probs with that media like a lot of people are having with the NEC-2500a. SO, I decided to try different media because Riteks werent working out for me and all I got to say is WOW!!!! the Media code on the Samsungs are YUDEN000T01 which are the Taiyo Yudens that come to be a little too expensive from various stores due to the quality of the media that this is hyped for. I put it in the burner and whats quoted at newegg as 4x I can burn at 8X with the NEC-2500a and a lot of ppl know that NEC 2500a is picky at what it can burn at 8x.
Due in 3/3/04. I'll be ordering since the Philips DVD+R CMC-R01's I got from Office Depot this week start freezing and skipping and messing up near the end. Not sure if it's the media or my player though. I haven't had this problem before.

I would highly HIGHLY recommend Ritek media, especially the G04's. These discs have NEVER failed me, burning 200 movies as well as 2 dozen PS2 games. They're price has come down alot recently, almost 50% what they used to be, atleast where I buy them. I recommend supermediastore.com, then have a 50x spindle for $49, with free shipping right now.
