[Sorry, due to frustration, i forgot that this isn't the right section for my problem, sorry moderators!!]
People!
I posted the other day a topic about me having problems with burning DVD's. When i started it al went fine...
But now my coaster collection is rissing dramaticlly! and it's beginning to irritate me![]()
Once again my specs..
Lite-on ldw 451s, firmware V. 7
Today i copyd a DVd-r to my HD with DVDDEcrypter. This went fine... no problems... then the burning. this also went fine, no probs... but once again, when i try to play it in my standalone, it fails and gives an disc error.... Pretty frustrating, especcially when your dade is paying for the disc and he sees them turning into coasters one by one.
I don't get bufferunderruns or what so ever!!!
And i'm using DVDdecrypter for.... pfff
sorry, but it's making me sade...
It's not my standalone player, because the DVD-r i copied (SRCdisk), played fine in this player...
hints tips, or what so ever?!?!??!

what are you using to burn the files on the hard drive onto dvd-r.
you should be using copytodvd or nero6.
theyd be your best bet.
and are you sure that your dvd player can play recordable media.
you copy the files to your hard drive with dvddecrypter in file mode, meaning you will ger vobs, ifos, and bup files, then use something like dvd2one,to compress it to be able to fit on 1 4.7(4.36) dvd-r.
then finallyburn the compressed files with copytodvdor nero6 .
and thats it.
any more problems, maybe you should get your dad to do it.<---joke! -
Heja!
i burn the image with dvdddecrypter again...
The one i'm doin no is already a compressed one. 4.6, and my media supports 4.7. or can that be the problem, that the file size is nearllt to the max. size...
hahah, trust me on this one, it was a nice suggestion of you to ask my dad... Ok he's retired IT dude, but this is way above his head...
it's stupid that when i started out, everyting went ok, en since a week everything is smugged up...
thanx!!

You act like the people here are getting paid to help you, this isnt the Dell helpdesk.
These forums are kept alive by nice people with knowledge.
So be freindly and dont get mad becuase people didnt jump at your question,
BTW, you might want to try an all-in-one dvd burning program, like dvdxcopy, that is not easy to screw up.
dvd decryptor can get pretty technical and not work if you dont know what your doing ( I think that is the case here)
Plus there is always the possibility that your dvd player doesnt like whatever media your using (+, - or the brand) -
you posted while I was posting, so here is a tip for your last post,
keep in mind that DvD-R (+ whatever) only hold around 4.3 formated gigs, you might be able to squeze more on there than that, but your safest just ot compress to around that.
I can guarentee you that you are not buring 4.7 gigs of data on that disc, something is wrong with that -
oh man!
Sorry!! i'm always afraid something like this will happen...
please don't get me wrong... it wasn;t my intention to jump on everybody's neck!! if so, once again this wasn't mine intention...
But ok, back to topic
Ok, my media is accepted by my player. i have 4 DVD's that work, ok...
uhhhh i havn't adjusted anny settings in DVDdecrypter and i made my thirst four dvd's with it...
You got a point there about the filesize... , it was also something i hade in mind... but te strange thing is that the file shrunk with DVDshrink are about 4.4 right? and that worked... but i'm gonna try that one...!
and try using DVDxcopy!
thanx! everyone! and once again, sorry if stept on someones toes

Some suggestions to get over the frustration:
Check out your hardware config. Especially the IDE pathways - you should have your faster drives (hard disk) on your primary IDE, your slower (DVD, CD and burners) on the secondary. That way, each can operate in the optimal transfer mode (DMA 5 or DMA 2).
Make sure you are at the latest firmware for all of your optical drives.
Use the media that is proven to work best with your drive. This site has the info you need. Don't try to burn lower speed media at a higher rate even if your software says it can. Some burners will not burn the 4x media without a minimum level of firmware.
Use simple and proven tools to rip and burn. DVD Shrink works flawlessly for me as all I do is backup the main movie. You can either use the burning engine of DVD Decrypter or Nero to do the burning. Some people have a problem with only being able to burn a single copy using DVD Shrink. However, since it saves your VIDEO_TS data to your hard drive, you can easily use Nero or DVD Decrypter to burn as many more as you need.
You may need to try other media. Not all media burns cleanly AND reads cleanly in a standalone. Some will burn and be readable by a computer optical drive but fail on a standalone player. Once you find a media that burns and reads cleanly, stick with it. BTW, the more expensive name-brand stuff won't necessarily solve the problem. I found some inexpensive stuff that is just about 100% successful for my purposes. However, I believe that media-burner and media-player compatibility varies and can only be determined through personal usage. -
dcores good job for apologizing, your a good man (or woman)
Anywho, I just wanted to know how you are sure your dvd player plays burnt dvd's.
Have you ogtten a freinds burn dvd to work or something.
Another good point from above, burn on the slowest speed possible until yo uget a good burn. I wouldnt break the 4x bearier, but your safer at 2x.
If I think of anything else I ll post it -
Couple recomendations: use good media. Do not use the highest burn setting. Use your region code only. Use DVDshrink first. Nothing against decrypter, but why play around with more then 2 programs? Do your thing on shrink, get it all set, then burn to HD (again, region coding!). Close shrink, pop the DVD out. Then use whatever program to burn (I use nero.) Not 1 problem since I started doing it this way, have done about 12 DVD's.
-
Sounds like a media problem to me.
Use DVDInfoPro to run a READ ERROR TEST on the burnt DVD discs that don't play on your stand alone.
My guess is even though they appear to have burned A-OK they are probably riddled with READ ERRORS.
If that is the case then try different media.
I suggest Taiyo Yuden DVD-R discs which can be bought direct or under the FUJI brand name (but only the FUJI DVD-R discs that say MADE IN JAPAN).
In fact just about any DVD-R disc that is MADE IN JAPAN is damn good.

Yep, my shilling is on the media, too. Taiyo Yuden, well, you can't go wrong with them.

Anyway if you try dvdxcopy, or decide to buy it, there are some places stilll selling it to get rid of their stock of that software since portions of that software has been deemed illegal.
But I like the software combination. AutoShinkISO which uses DVDDecryptor and DVD Shink.
Copytodvd or nero 6 will work fine coping everything to a dvd disk. -

As for the DVD-R discs again it is the same thing. Only the small 5 and 10 packs (which come in full sized jewel cases) say MADE IN JAPAN whereas the larger cake packs will say MADE IN TAIWAN
So if you want to buy FUJI in hopes of getting TAIYO YUDEN media you are best to do so AT a retail store where YOU can READ the box.
Please note that RIMA.COM has TAIYO YUDEN media (both CD-R and DVD-R) for sale so that would be the way to buy them if you need to order on-line.

Alright!!!
I think i have the problem here...
a couple of DVD-r, were wrecked by a personal fault, so these went straight away into the binn...
So now i have a pile left, with 'coasters'. I assume....
I used Kprobe to scan these discs and they all came out perfect (far beneath the max limits, i think you know what i mean)
So the discs are OK!!! but what was the problem then...
- ripping completes without erros
- imaging completes without errors
- burning completes without erros...
everythingis Aok
here comes the great part...
I went to my neighboor and asked if i could run these disks on his player... and wel blow me downthey all work!!!!
- DVD-r
- DVD+r
- DVD+r -. booktype -> DVD-rom...
So the conclusion
First of all, chill when its getting frustrating, there is always an awnser!!
Like said, it has to do with my media type: Use Traxadate (Rihtec 04)
Meaning that my DVD standalone, which is a LG 5353 (with regioncode hack and vcd, svcd hack applied) doesn't support these media...
How can i find out wich media type will work fine with the burner and my standalone player?! i've checked DVDplayer section, and found some good awnsers, the only thing is that all the media that is posted, isn't for sale here in holland. well that's my first impression.
Or, (yeah! the whole family is involved with this brainbreaking question) could i be i did something wrong with on of the hacks?
ok, little bit offtopic, but i thought, it 's not a good idea to post a new topic in an other section (the DB space can be better used)
I'm gonna do some research on the media, and the standalone player!!
with a better feeling then i hade yesterday,
Cheers![ I'm not talkin' to fast, your just a slow listner ] -
try someone elses copies.
try a +R, a -R.and a RW+or-.
my LG 5620 is better playing +R media than -R.
but good quality -R media is played, just as well.
its just i can use crappy +R media more so.
also,as for the hacks,if it plays vcd, svcd, and original dvds, then you havent messed it up.
if it wouldnt play dvd originals, then there would be a problem.
im not too sure, about players being dvd brand picky, but like i say, mine is format picky.. -
heja
well i've several copies here from a friend and they all work fine...
one is princo (in the DVDplayer section, it's said to be non working) the other one i don't know...
haha, with this player its the opposite... DVD+R is crap, but -R is wonderfull,ok if you have the wright mediabrand
alright, that's a releaff. i can play normal DVD's without any problems and voor VCD's the same....
So i would expect the my burnt copys are crap, but like I said, according to Kprobe, the where good (the graph was consistent and very low)
I'm gonna check a dutch forum for questions about this player and right kind of media!
thanx![ I'm not talkin' to fast, your just a slow listner ] -
You should download the bitsetting program for liteon drives and set your dvd+r to dvd-rom that may solve all your problems.
-
the programme copytodvd does it for me with + discs and my 106 writer.
i sent a few log files to them and they got it fixed with its inability to burn +R media.
works a treat now,and wouldnt use any other programme.
well that and the fact they gave me another free years subscription for trying out various versions as they were updated.
maybe you should give that a try,its available as a trial, and i know all my friends use dvd decrypter,dvd2one,and copytodvd.
and have never had a problem with any dvds at all for ages.. -
DvD-r's is a more compatible media when it comes to standalone players.
I am glad you got it working, If I were you I would get a variety pack of media(they have online places that sell them for this specific reason).
Burn to all the media and test it out with your dvd player.
Burn on the slowest setting you can stand.
Then you will know the cheapest brand/type you can buy that will work on your burner.
keep in mind DvD-R is usually more compatible with movies and dvd palyers.
BTW I was in Holland for half a year. Good people there. Good beer too. I was there for carnival. Maastrict was the city I was staying in. If your not dutch then NM
Force -
He everybody
before I start... Cool Forcelite... I hoped you enjoyd your stay, and as you may have noticed during carnival, we dutch foulks can act really 'weird' when we hade a beer or too.
But ok, the story continues and i thought to let you know how it's going...
I've been searching for information about anything I can find on the net about
Lite-on LDW 451S
LG 5353
And the media I use: TRaxadata (Ritek 04) -R
Mmore -R/+R
I found out that it's possible that you can have 'fakes' or bad stackes of DVD-r. And i think that's the case with my Traxdata -R. I have to stacks (25 each) and today I burnt an DVD on it. what i did was opening a new stack, and tryed the first DVD on that. and that worked... so I thought, Ok maybe This stack will work on my Standalone.. but unfortunate. I burnt a second disc... and ran a Kprobe scan, which was BTW a nice scan, and then tryed in mine LG, and now way hozeit didn't worked... so much fore 'maybe i was unfortunated with 1! bad stack'...
Yesterday I also bought Mmore dvd-r, cause I thought that would the trick... and again nope... my standalone player won't play them... And i'm positive that -R are supported by this baby... so if you put al the peaces of info together. i have two conclusions:
- I haven't got the right media for my LG 5353, 'cause my Lite-on supports these discs.... So check where i can find new media that'll work (oh yeh, uhh Forcelite, you were talkin' bout variety packs... that sounds cool, but i searched the net, but didn't find a satisfying result. do you now anything?) But it still strange that some discs work and the others don't strange?
A friend of mine burnt on princoh and this one worked, to be more precise, he burnt two and they all worked... but here in the player section i read that this wasn't supported. oh dearwhat now...? (asking my self
)
- The other, buy a new DVD player wich support full. Ok my neighbour's player read my discs without any hassetation. I'm gonna check if other players of friends of mine also work... and if so.... :S. then checking the media type isn't that bad at all...
But i read an article that DVD+r is slowely takin over, en that -R is losing Territory. if that's so, then i and a lolt off people will be screwd in the upcoming future with there only supporting DVD-R thing....
BTW the player was a gift fore my fathers 60th birthday so it wouldn't be that hard.
It's pretty tuff writing down in english and keep track of your story. and there's a lot more to tell... but if i write that all down, I think the DB will overflow:P
I hope i'll get it soon together... Because starting to get pretty fague... my discs wont work at home, but somewhere, every where else it'll play..:S well, if I have new info about this, i'll let you know!! 8)
oeh:S i hope it's all logical what i just wrote...
for now!
cheers!
later!

i read an article that DVD+r is slowely takin over, en that -R is losing Territory.
That's the position I'm taking so all of my DVD backups are to DVD-R media. -
dcores<--- You could always watch the movies at your neightbours house :P
Or as you say buy another DVD-Player they are not that expensive theese days. i saw one for 498:- Skr (swedish Kronor) like 50$
I hope you manage to solve the problem..
Cheers/ ddrNever argue with idiots, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience -
Newsflash!!
I installed new ASAPI drivers and used a DVD+RW for media...
Yes indeed, i used COpytoDVD. It worked!!!
And used the booktype tool for my writer....
Burnt a DVD movie, and what do you know!!! it worked!!!
Then i burnt DVD+R. the once i used and had hickups..
Burnt the movie same way as with DVD+RW...
And well blow me liver and drop spectacles!!!?
It worked!!
tomorrow, i'm gonna test the full procedure...
DVDshrink
CopytoDVD
and lets see what happens! keep your fingers crosst
but i think i really did, Ok with your help!
thanx! in advance!
cause im gonna thank you if it really works
leter!
