  1. Hi,

Still No one seems to know the answer to my question about my pc not putting out Dolby Signal through my optical Lead to my amp ,Check out my other post. It must be a software issue due to the fact that i can get the same Divx/Avi movie to display the Dolby logo on my stand alone Kiss 500 dvd.
This seem strange to nobody out there has the answer.

  4. You have to get the software DVD player to output the DD signal thru the TOSlink/optical output. Must be a switchable option. A computer sound card usually only outputs PCM audio. I think some people said that WinDVD has the option, not sure.

  6. gargoyle67,

I am not sure that it can be done. I have been trying to get an AC3 signal out of my $150 m-audio audiophile sound card for 4 weeks with no success.

I am only able to get the prologic signal to play on an external receiver. I have tried windvd, WMP 9, powerdvd. M-audio claims that the card is supposed to be able to pass an AC3 signal out the s/pdif coax line. It doesn't work.

What sound card are you using?

    dave.

Why not call manuf. tech support line instead of guesswork?

  8. On my Vaio computer I can output any computer sound as a PCM bitstream through my optical cable (just a digital signal but not Dolby Digital). With PowerDVD I can change the configuration sound settings to SPDIF (instead of 2-channel) where it can pass a Dolby Digital signal on most DVD movies (when watching movies all other computer sounds are disabled with this). I can only watch movies in Dolby Digital through this program.

Not that this might help much but are you sure it isn't a DTS signal or just 2 channel AC3? Try changing the audio settings in the actual movie (if it supports DD 5.1)

Btw, Pro Logic and Dolby Surround are a decoding format and aren't actually encoded in actual movies (basically which means you can use any analog sound signal to output through that).

  9. i have posted this in a similar forum..I have heard that the nvidia sound storm chip will output a raw digital stream to your receiver but the Creative cards will not. they will only play out of 5.1 computer speakers.

What type of sound card do you have?

Using my Creative Audigy 2, I had to set the pcm Freq to 96 in order to get the Dolby Digital signal to my receiver.
