Hi, currently battaling with a WMV file (Radiohead live at Southpark) I saved using ASFRecorder. I've got the whole file, but when I play it, it plays the first 2 seconds then jumps to the end. I can search though the file and play it from any point and get the right picture/audio but at the end of the song it jumps to the end again.
I've been trying to convert the WMV to anything more accomadating, but I have problems loading it into any software. So far I've tried..
VirtualDub13.c, just won't load the file.
AsfCut.exe AsfCutGUI.exe AsfIndexer.exe
wmencoder71.exe (from microsoft) just tried to load and save the file and tried to stream to a new file using the orginal as the source, but no luck.
TMPGEnc-0.11.24.107 errors in file.
Also started to write an exe in C++Builder but couldn't control the media player start pos when I loaded the WMV file (could if I used avi)
Any help suggestions greatly welcomed, I've also played around with some screen capture progs but can't find one that will capture video from Windows media player.
Thanks in advance.
Paul.

I'm having the exacy same problem. I tried to save this particular stream using both the Windows & Linux version. No luck. They all play the first few seconds of the stream, then zip to the end. I can't seem to find an answer to this question ANYWHERE!
BTW, the temporary solution I figured out is using Camtasia. Check out buzz's yahoo group for a crizack for that!
Anyway, hope that helps. If anyone knows what the hell's going on, PLEASE let us know! -
I had a really messed up wmv file which wouldn't play, except the end, and it had blocks in it like picture had been broken up. I used ASFTools2.00 in the tools section on this site and managed to save it after a few attempts.
In asftools 2, click on ADVANCED, then try the various options PRESETS, (I used both "fix bad spots" and "partial file" and one of those fixed it, although I lost a few seconds of corrupted footage.) If asftools could fix this messed up wmv file I had, I'm sure it can save yours. -
Also, once you finally fix it, TMPGENC will only convert wmv if you select video ONLY (usually, sometimes the audio will work too, but its rare.) So I recommend converting the video to .mpg and use TOTALRECORDER to record the audio into wav format, then join the two together into a full mpg file.
I posted TOTALRECORDER and a, ahem, patch, here:

Just sign up for yahhoo groups, it takes a second, and is worth your while.
