    I need a program that can shrink avi.'s kind of the same way dvd shrink shrinks dvds. Any such program?

    This program you speak of doesn't exist. The only way to shrink the file size is to re-encode it. Doing so will involve quality loss. One thing that might make things easier for you would be to use Dr. Divx. It allows you to specify the output file size. Like I said before though, you're going to lose video quality.
