i have a 43 hitatchi hdtv ready tv. i use my ps2 as the dvd player and its hooked up through component cables so its ready for progressive scan and all. but when i turn the progressive scan on it changes the tv size to 16x9 in the ps2 menu but my tv is 4:3 so this makes the picture stretched vertically. i want the pscan to be on but for the 4:3 letterbox setting but it wont let me choose that size for progressive scan. does anyone know what i can do for this?

i dont think you can.
my friend had a problem similar, but it changes his to far to wide, like its on zoom.
the only thing he did was connect it up to a scart cable and play it that way. -
TV's like that should have something called V-Compression to correct that. Try looking somewhere in the TV's menu.

Choose the 16x9 so your videos will be viewed with better results.
