  1. Hi.
How do I edit recorded video from a dvd-recorder (philips DVDR75) on my computer?
I have recorded on a DVD+rw disc and now wants to edit and add menus, removing unwanted video aso.
    Is this possible?

  2. I asked an almost identical question about 2 weeks ago.

    Baldrick advised the following

'Tmpgenc dvd author, and choose add dvd video. You can then cut away stuff you don't want.'

managed to get fantastic result with it

  3. OK, but if the recorded video contains only a Video_ts folder with .vob-files? Is it still editable with tmpgenc?

  4. It is still editable with TMPGEnc, but you have to use the dvd2avi utility to make a D2V file. Open that in TMPGEnc, then you can do your editing and conversion and such.

You can't really edit .vob's on the fly what you could do is use a piece of software that can import those vobs in video_ts and convert them into mpeg2's.

You can use TMPG Author, Ulead Video Studio 7, or Ulead Movie Factory 3 to import those vobs. You can download the demo version of all these pieces of software and give them a try. TMPG Author, however does not allow you to edit mpeg2s it only allows you to import and make menu and write dvds. UVS7 and Movide Factory 3 allow you to import and edit those mpeg2s and make menus and write to dvds.

Now if your recoder can do DVD-VR (fast editable) try that feature as UVS 7 and Ulead Movie Factory 2 and 3 can edit those menus on the fly and resave them.

My definition of "edit" is not as simple as demux. My definition of edit is manipuation; adding text, overlay, dubbing, removing unwanted suff, adding stuff etc.

TMPG Author only allows you to do demux, splitting mpegs into video and audio stream and replacing audio/video stream from another audio/video stream - something that IMO many people wont call it "edit".

Reading back the original post, i think he wants to edit video and remove stuff. So, he wants true editing which is not offered by TMPG Author.

    Cheers.

Sure, you're correct, "edit" really refers to adding effects, transitions, text, overlay, etc etc.

But Oola was referring to "removing unwanted video" (eg commercials perhaps).

TMPGEnc DVD Author will do this basic "cutting"! (I wasn't talking about demuxing).

Just revisited it. It does do simple video edit.

    Cheers

  10. Also, editing with TDA is "non-invasive" in that your original mpeg files are not affected. Your edits will only show up on the final output files. Highly recommended; I use TDA all the time for simple editing.

How about simply adding chapter markers on the original RW with the Philips recorder?
