I am a newbie, i just got some DVD disk and they are Silver Matte top surface.
On my CDR's i just used a Sharpie, (Permanent Marker) to write on the top of the disk to name it so i could tell one disk from the other.
Can i do that on the DVD disk without causeing a problem?.
Also what dose inkjet printable mean, you can't run this disk through a inkjet printer like a pice of paper. Is there some kind of stamp machine.

Ive heard a few people say a sharpie could damage a DVD, but I (and many many other people) have labeled hundreds of discs without any problems linked to using sharpies. I don't doubt that the materials in a sharpie could damage a DVD, however it dries so fast I would be very surprised if any damage was done. Personally I think its very safe to label with a sharpie...just stay away from stick on labels.
Certain printers (Epson R300 is popular) have CD trays that allow the printing directly on an Inkjet printable DVD or CD, with very good quality FYI. However, I don't recomend sticking your DVD in your printers paper loader :P
