Hey. I am having a problem with a particular Xvid encoded .avi. Originally the .avi file displayed weird colours like blue and purple on people's faces etc. so I installed the ffdshow filter and that solved the problem. When I watch the file with media player or real player the video appears to have this haze over top of it and I have even noticed some smearing of certain objects (kind of like a trail of the outline of an object when the camera moves). Interestingly these problems seem to last for about 5-10 seconds or so and then clear up to the point where the video is very clear (just how I like it ) for about 2 seconds or so. Of course the haze and smearing returns later. My questions are: Is there anyway I can salvage this .avi file? Is there anyway I can use the settings in ffdshow to get a better picture while viewing this file? Are the problems likely to have arose during the encoding of the file into .avi format?

Thanks in advance,

Chris
