  1. Hi, i been trying to make VCDs for about two weeks now, with no success.
I have the mpeg file with all the right specifications (352x288 pal, 1150 kbit p/sec, 25 fts, 224 kbps layer II).
First, in Nero, i choose VCD Video, then drop the file. Then Nero checks it. Tell me it's ok, and then i burn it.
But when i put it inside my DVD-Rom, the software display that is the SVCD. I tried to play it on standalone DVD players that plays VCD and didn't work, and when i put it on a DVD player that supports SVCD it work just fine!
So my guess is that Nero burned a SVCD instead a VCD.
    Anyone??? please help me!

  2. I have done literally hundreds of standard VCD's using Nero, and never had a problem. My DVD player plays VCD, and supposedly SVCD, and rarely has problems with a CD.

Some DVD players are very sensitive to the media used, so you might like to try other brands & colors of media, as well as sizes too (i.e. use 650MB media if all you have tried is 700's)

Hmm, thats odd. I always use Nero to burn my VCDs and SVCD's and it never gets the two mixed up. Are you sure you are selecting Video CD? What version of Nero are you using? Is it a cracked version?

You might want to make sure you have the latest version of Nero and try reinstalling the software. If that doesn't help, then you must be doing something wrong in between.

  4. Thanks for taking your time to answer.
Obviously i'm sure that i always choose VCD Video and not SVCD.
yes, it's not a comercial version and the cds i used are bulk, maybe that's what's making all the mixed up situation.

but what makes me wonder is what i (as i describe on the first post) tried before: playing the cd on a VCD player and nothing, and playing the cd on a SVCD player and voila!

another thing is the software player: the display keeps saying VCD 2.0 (i tried with WinDVD and Power DVD)

i don't know what to do man!!!

    thanks again for your effort.

  5. Switch media. Buy a single, more expensive CD (Memorex Gold has worked well for me, and so has Kodak Gold) and try it.

  6. You never answered N0SoopForU's Q, What ver of Nero are you using? I have been using 5.5 with no problems. Try de-selecting 'Create standard compliant CD' and 'Use CD-i application'

  7. i'm using Nero 5.5.4.0
i've tried de-selecting created CD-i application, but no, i didn't yet try with de-selecting create standard compliant cd.
i don't know what else to do, but maybe all the problem is that cd 5 dvd players that i tried to play the cd, none of them work with cd-r media.
what do you think? could a standalone dvd player that in the specs says that supports vcd AND cd-r not really do it?
what are your experiences on that?
    thanks again!!!
