Is any standard IEEE 1394 firewire port capable of capturing/transferring DV input in by using a software applications.
I know this is probable a stupid question but I'm having a heck of a time with my net Sony DCR TRV3 8. All is working properly up till the point I attempt the transfer to my computer. The camcorder is not revisited by any of several different software applications. Is a special DV IEEE 1394 just for DV transfer?

It's funny.
I've never used a firewire port (in fact, I don't have any, either) but I thought that Firewire was a commercial name to IEEE 1394.
