  1. Hiya kids

    i know this is a forum for Video CD's but this is such a wealth of informed souls i thought i would ask

    1. i am looking for info on how to get a video clip (mpeg1) that is being distributed on a CD to autoplay when loaded into a pc if their is a more correct resource than this please let me know and read no further

    however

    if you guys can answer, here it goes:

    created a autorun.ini that sez

    [autorun]
    open=myvid.mpg

    no dice

    got one that sez:

    [autorun]
    open=mplayer2.exe /fullscreen /play /close \Myvid.mpg

    i get an error message saying "cannot find the program mplayer2.exe..."

    i am confused. i thought the pc would automatically do or open whatever you specified after "open=". do i need something else on the cd like one of these shareware utilites i find a-bounding on the web?

    anyhelp would be great!

    Try entering the full path to mplayer2.exe

  4. hey thanks

    whats the workaround to help guarantee that would work if the path is different on some machines (you would like to think it isnt)

    is there some command like c:\= so it just looks for it?

    i'll test this amd let you know

  5. The path is different on some PC, also not all have mplayer2. W2K is a particular problem. There was a workaround for this, not too terribly complicated. Unfortunately it has been some time since I fooled with this, don't recall the post or link, it may not even have been this site. I do recall it didn't take too long to find it.

    Could you use the sys variables like %WINDIR%, %SYSDIR% etc to pick up c:\windows\system or c:\winnt\system ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Do a search of this site and read my past posts on the subject. Mucho info.

    One of these days I'll get around to making a nice guide, but right now I'm swamped with a major multimedia project.

  8. wow..thanx!

    1. the systme variables mentioned (dos will never die)? they point to the system directory no matter waht its named cuz you set that in the operating environment right??? its like saying "look in whever directory is called systme in wahtever directory is called windows"?

    2. i will look around for more posts on subject, and if you wait too long to write the guide, you'll have to deal with 64 bit Windows (HAHAHAHA)

    BTW, WAWSAD (when all was said and done) i made it autoplay using macromedia director. however i will continue to endeavor to get this aurun thang happ'nin

    thanx again!
