After reading about the dye not making to the edge of crappy discs , I've done a little extra compression as to not bring the data all the way to the edge. I usually allow 200-300mb below the max which doesn't seem to affect movie quality. Any thoughts on this value? Too high?too low ?
I'm using ricohs,so is this even necessary??

I tend to compress films to 4.2 gig for just the same reason..Even though i use Ritek Go4's. Never had a problem with playback even when filling the disk, just feel safer.
Not bothered by small problems...

hmm - i think i might try this - i heard the same thing - i was using sandy yang and it was freezing at the end - i'll try compression an extra 200 mb and see if it stops - thanks

I had a sandy yang once, but I found a little antiseptic and a plaster worked wonders, even to the edge.
Sorry, I'm bored and couldn't resist it.
