I am in the market for a new DVD player namely a DivX player. I have a 65" HDTV projection TV. I need the best possible picture, because I sit fairly close to it, and DivX movies are not as clear as DVD's. Is the DVI the way to go? Your input is greatly appreciated-

better source quality would help more ... divx made from already compressed dvd's are not going to be the same quality as the original dvd - no mater what you play it on ..
so use the original dvd instead ...
in fact (and i have 2 samsung 931's DVI players which output HD) - DVI will look worse on poor image sources -- really makes them stand out ."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
also -- most 65" HDTV projection TV 's dont look that great if you sit close ... move back some

I sit about 10ft. from the T.V due to my room restrictions, but have the ability to change the size of the picture being outputed which helps.

So in my case the DVI would not be recommened? Furthermore is there a way to know what resolution would be best on my TV? -
oh 10' --- ok , i thought you meant like 3 feet back or something

Sorry about that, this is the question I wanted to ask on the previos post:

DVI works best with progressive format commercial dvd's and animation ..
as for your tv -- i dont know the model you have, some are best at 720p and some are best at 1080i (because they dont do 720p) and for some sources -- best is 480"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
