    When I click on TMPGENC to open I get an error message which reads: "The dynamic link library PAL.dll could not be found in the specified path..."

    The program still opens and appears to run fine but I do not know if this error will corrupt my video files, etc. Does anyone know how and why this error appears?

    Have already re-installed tmpgenc but it does not place any files into system directories as far as i know and therefore no change

    FWIW, info from microsoft support:

    Name: pal.dll
    Description: Microsoft Image Composer Pal DLL
    Version: 1.0.0.1059
    DLLSelfRegister: No

    MS also noted that this dll was associated with frontpage 97...
    Always check helpfiles/instructions before leaping...
